Specifically, this stuff-

https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/caribsea-aragonite-aquarium-sand-10-lbs-2153529

~$5 for 10 pounds is pretty affordable, and I was wondering how coarse it is. I need maybe 20~30 pounds to add to the little I have for a 40 breeder build soon, and I'm trying save a bit of money. I have about ~7 pounds or so of pretty fine Tropic eden on hand, plus maybe ~10 pounds of live sand in my 20 long I would be mixing in. Just want to make sure it isn't too coarse, as I want sugar or so sort of consistency.

Why not just go look at it in store? Well, the only ones with it in stock are out of the way enough that it would add considerable time to my afternoon commute to go and check it out :)

i was thinking the same thing... was going to mix this and some LS. I have looked at it in store, it looks similar to size as caribsea fiji pink, maybe even a bit larger. also, the grains are very uniform in size. not like some other sand i've seen. hope this helps!

Well, there was a location not too far out of the way that had them in stock so I stopped by to look, and ended up grabbing them. Interestingly enough they are $8.99 in store. I had pal points to use so with the 10% online discount and that I only spent ~$9 for three bags out the door.

The granules are pretty close in size, color, and weight to Tropic Eden Tonga reeflakes #03616, which I have a couple partial bags of.

Honestly I think this stuff is a great budget option! I'll mix it with what I have on hand and use it.

I've used it many times before in both fresh and saltwater applcaapplic and never had an issue.
