I agree completely with the set and forget theory.
The true benefits of WiFi that are tangible (IMO) is the fact with the APP you have numbers to see for the settings. No potential error that ones eye can fault on.
You can copy and paste other successful reefers schemes to your own equipment, or share yours with others.
Bottom line again (IMO) WiFi is not needed. Yes an easier way to set things up for sure. End of the day, wright or wrong everything comes with accessories that should be part of the original product.
This all started with gaming console marketing strategy. (IMO).
Parents would not go out and buy a $800.00 console for the kids, but hey a $300.00 console, and a $50.00 game, ok no problem, but then you have to add additional controllers for a second player, extension cables, batteries, hard drives, mic's, Etcetera and your bank account is now $800.00 or more lighter, than the initial $350.00 you budgeted for, and they laughed all the way to their bank, as the marketing strategy worked like a charm then, and still does to this day.
Now every manufacturer applies this same technique.
This will never change until the consumer speaks with their wallet over the mouth.
Complaining about it in a forum, or even calling the manufacturer, all the while the equipment is in your hand will fall on deaf ears. Again they will laugh all the way to the bank.
BUT if they produce an accessory that should have been included in the first place, and we the consumer leave them sitting on the shelves unsold.
Then things will change, and change in a hurry.
I can be a jerk sometimes when I want to make a point.
I was looking to buy an item that should have come with a mounting bracket.
This product was a mobile device at $450.00, the mount was an additional $80.00.
Its design was such that you had no option but to mount it to something.
So I found another manufacture who had a similar product but it came with a mount. That product was $480.00.
I wrote up a letter stating my disappointment with the manufacturer that did not offer the mount. I also included a copy of my receipt showing proof I bought the competitors unit because of it.
I also created a YouTube video after making a cheap $3.50 DIY mount for my friend who bought the mount-less one.
Went viral in that world, not the world, but in the end after some four months guess what. They were including the mounts from that point forward, and to this day have never offered a mobile unit without a mount.
My point is we all have some control, we are not at the mercy of the manufacturers, or retailers. We just need to be heard in a way that will be listened to.
They will hear LOUD AND CLEAR the lack of money and sales over our voices, or posts.
It just takes a bit of extra effort on our part.
In the end I am not annoyed with Kessel, but, yea they have used the same marketing strategy that's not so cool.
My DT lighting dollars did not go with Kessel, because of these reasons.
So they along with the WiFi dongle or controller will remain on the retailers shelves.
My new Radeons however are connected to my laptop for the initial set up, and continued control.....
I don't and won't have the diffusers either. Ecotech, did you feel the missing dollars not headding your way?
