Anyone dismantle track lighting rail before?

I'm mounting rail in my hood so that I can slide my new Reef Breeder LumenBars back while I work on the tank. I bought one four foot rail and sawed it into 4. Bought 4 cheap track lights and am using their carriages to attach to the mounting bracket on the lights. My only problem (so far) is I can't get the extra stuff out from the inside of the rails. There's plastic and copper, and some of it just slid out, but most of it's stuck and I'm pulling it out piece by piece. I'd leave it, but the carriages slide MUCH easier without it. Has anyone here worked with this stuff before? Is the plastic glued in or something? So frustrated!

That was a lesson in futility. I ordered the parts for a linear motion rail. $50, eBay.
