Have you guys found that it is a good source of nutrient export? @ChiCityI've done a hob fuge on a five gallon.
Also did the same with ten and twenty and thirty gal tanks.
Seriously; a couple of flicks with a toothbrush and the glass is immaculately spotless, all 4 sides too!I would love a system with a huge Refugium and a tiny display - say 75:5.

I have a 30g sump on a 8g display, bout as nano as it gets and it’s doing fine
I wanted to turn the back chamber into the refuge and see how it runs without the skimmer on the red sea max do mostly lps and that kind of thing. I maintain tanks for work so im looking for something a little more care free ya know?Seriously; a couple of flicks with a toothbrush and the glass is immaculately spotless, all 4 sides too!
A little too well!
Grows chaeto like crazy...
I stocked the 8g with the tiniest fish I could find:
Eviota Queenslandica
Coryphopterus personatus x2
Asterropteryx semipunctata
Gobiopsis quinquecincta
Acanthemblemaria hancocki
Needless to say, this system runs a little too lean at times but I’ve devised a method..
I thaw reef frenzy and feed the fish in my sps system, then I save the juice and pour it into my lps/zoa system, which is the 8g ada/ 30g sump
So far so good, but it’s up to your methods and husbandry requirements...
I didn’t want to labor a bunch on a gigantic display plus I’ve always found more detail in smaller systems anyway.
The few things you get to put in take on a much more grand appeal in a tiny glass box
