So after 2 decades keeping reef tanks I just learned today that Caulerpa is edible and regularly eaten raw and cooked by people where it is native. Does anyone eat the Caulerpa from their tanks? Seems like the ultimate nutrient export!

I’m going to see if I can start a “cleaner” basket or refugium for growing it and see how it goes. I know I have some C. lentillifera in my system and apparently it is one of the tastiest :)

Anyone have any favorite recipes for it?

Any miso soup recipe works.

Wash it in ice cold water before cooking. While caulerpa is delicious, amphipods... not so much.

Really? I figured they would have a great shrimp like flavor :) Flatworms and bristleworms on the other hand...

I imagine it's more like stone crab gill meat. Gritty and flavorless.
