So Saturday I got a new micromussa mini colony. Yesterday I glued it to my micro colony island. Today I woke up to my hermit sitting on the new coral. Bumped it off and 5 minutes later when I returned the hermit was back. Picked it up and tossed him in the back of the tank. An hour later find him back in the exact spot. Hermit isn’t eating anything just chilling. Figured I’d let it be and half way through the day still in the same spot. All the heads seem ok with it, even the one he’s sitting on. Just looked again during light ramp down and still there. So 12 hours of just chillin out on the new coral.

And I just took the picture a few minutes before lights out. All heads were fully inflated all day.

Yes, mine are extremely curious about any new coral. They are most probably attracted by potential food such as algae.

I've got a blue leg that's been chilling in the top of an sps for a couple days, hasn't moved besides turning around. Sps doesn't seem to care either, polyps out

I can tell you that attempting to remove them will do more damage than letting them be, but 10 times out of 10 my hermits are eating algae growing on the coral and the coral won't mind it once it leaves.

If I reach in though and the hermit "grips" into the coral for dear life, you can bet it's gonna hurt the coral though.

Yes it's annoying but if the crab annoys you just take it back to lfs and ask for one of the same, they all end up doing it at some point though.

It’s not really annoying me since it doesn’t seem to bother the coral. Just thought it was funny. But after a full day of hanging out he decided to move on.

Yeah, my blue leg finally left the sps last night after 5 days just hanging out on top, probably got hungry

Guess it’s the thing to do now. Another one spotted the first one hanging out and thought it looked comfortable.
