Anyone else done with mp40s

Do you have a dry side you need to get rid of? I have an extra wet side I’d love to put to good use.

4 MP60s 2 MP40s and an MP10. The MP10 is one of the old white ones. Still going.
I have bought several Jebao pumps and wavemakers. The pumps have done really well. The wavemakes not so much although I have 2 left that seem like they will live forever.

And one died because my crab attacked it. I wont hold that against them.

Though one could argue the plastic should be strong enough that a small animal can't tear it apart.
High speeds of plastic jamming into a hard crab shell would do some damage for sure

That's probably what made it mad enough to rip the top off.

Been running 4 MP 40's for four years now. I did have to replace one dry side. Bearing went out.
I DO clean them monthly though.

I will say that I had to replace one MP60 wetside. It simply slid down the inside of the tank. Nothing I did helped but a new one worked fine. It's in my cabinet but I haven't fooled with it anymore.

idk i have 2 mp40s that are pink and just fine i have came home 2 times to one one the ground, im not sure how it would lose magnet.

i do like them tho and other than those 2 times i have no problem with the wet sides, in fact id buy another one.... i like the no wire in the tank thing so much i can look past the cost and minor issues... looking at a mp10 right now :)

If you stall the prop like with a snail shell getting into the cage the dry side will jump off the tank. If it hits the floor and breaks it's an expensive oops.

Had 1-2 problems with mine but my 4 has worked flawlessly for over 3 years. But like someone said before, some are lucky some arent.

That heat is free if you are somewhere where you need to run a heater. If you are running a chiller most of the time then yes, this could be a bonus.
I'll let my heater do it's thing. That's why I have it.

That is all well and good. Let your heater do its thing. I am in no way suggesting that you replace your heater with submerged pumps.

All I am saying is that unless you need to cool your tank, any heat produced by pumps, lights, or any other equipment is not a reason to use one product over another.

If your system already runs pretty warm then yes, not having the motors in the water is beneficial.

Friends?

I understand. In winter the extra heat is welcome. Summer is another story. To me extra heat in the summer is worse. I don't need to run a chiller but there's times the tank is running close to 80. Plus I really hate wires in the tank. I can hide wires outside better than inside the tank.
I only have two pumps running in the water. In the sump. One for return, the other to feed a Calcium reactor.

I have had jebao before and did not treat me well. They are cheap for a reason and none lasted more than a year. I have a range of mps and had them for over four years. I have intermittent issues with them but a thorough clean always revive my wet side. I soak them in chlorine overnight to rid of all algae, then soak in vinegar overnight to rid of any calcium/carbonate build ups.
ironically, it is the dry side I have more trouble with problems ranging from stalling, not syncing, or disconnected. But again just have to reset them. Takes some time but never have to replace them yet (knock on wood)

What model jebao is everyone talking about?

Im glad i read this thread ive been looking for some used ones as i dont know if i want to buy 2 or 3 mp40 at that price.

I'm looking for some decent powerheads though alternative to mp40

I was lucky to get a couple mp10s used for cheap. I like my mp10's, but the magnets are annoyingly weak for me on 3/8 acrylic. Have to get them just right to catch and hold, but still fall on occasion. I know I could support them with zip ties, but I'll more than likely replace them.

Even the amount of people on this thread saying they have an issue or 2 with their 400 MP fans makes me wonder why I would ever spend $400plus on on hoping I am one of the lucky ones with no issues. I will buy three jabeo at same cost and high likelihood it will work!
