My tank is 6 yrs old and I CAN NOT target feed anything.

Once a target feeding food lays on the LR for any amount of time....... I within 2 days get turf algae develop at the target site.

I only feed the fish and let the fish poop do its magic

I broadcast feed only. I keep all the pumps running and let it scatter as it may. I don't think I've ever tried to target anything in over 30 years. If it's rotifers or other tiny food for the corals I'll wait about an hour after lights out so the corals will have maximum PE.

Ditto to this minus 20 years.

I will usually throw a bit of coral food in with the fish food so a bit gets broadcast every time the fish are fed (usually once per day) but I try and target feed 2-3 times a week. Ime corals grow much faster with target feeding then not. I can compare corals especially LPS I've target fed to others I haven'tand the growth and color is far better.
