I've never seen one. Where did you get it?

Petsmart they sell them for freshwater but in the wild they live in saltwater mangrove marshes along the coast they are alot cheaper than emerald crabs i paid 3 bucks a piece canadian

Trying to get pics for an update they are all still alive and doing well they spend most of their time buried in the af lifesource mud in my sump. Good little cleaners they cleaned all the detrius from the bottom of the sump.

They need access to air right?

also I’m guessing saltwater would be best for them if that’s where they live... omg I loved these little crabs! I’m going to have to try some

Ya they spend 95 percent of the time under water but need some spot to get above water they use pot scrubbies and filter floss in my sump along with wires. I rarely see them out since they got settled in.

An update for anyone interested I spotted one of the red clawed crabs darting into a hole in the mud dug next to my mangrove in its pot. So they can definitely live long term in full saltwater (tanks at 35ppt)

Very cool! Thank you for sharing. How did you acclimate them?

They seem like they may make a interesting pico inhabitant.

I dripped them for an hour 4-5 drips a second after floating them. They definitely would make an amazing pico inhabitant they're always on the move doing something . And it would be nice to see them up close/more often like ya would in a pico/nano, in my sump I barely ever see them.
