I’ve been dealing with zero nitrates and phosphates for a while now. Been getting cyano and dinos. Yesterday I took a large peice of live rock out that had encrusted corals. Scrubbed a bunch of hair algae off. Brushed a bunch of it off the other rocks as well. Than siphoned it off a bunch of the substrate. (Fluval evo 13.5) basically all this was a 50 percent water change. Filled it back up. Than realized the new salt water was way lower in salinity abd my tank went from 1.026 to 1.019 in 10 mins. I also added a half dose of red slime remover. Than another dumb move was I brought the salinity back up over a few hours to 1.026 again. Well in this time. I lost a hammer coral. My prized hydnophora and a polkaroo lepto. Potentially my fav acan as well. Very devistating. This tank has been up for 9 months and been doing very well with non issues other than low nutrients and some cyano. Oh well. Lesson learned

Shoot. Maybe bad hang over?
