Just curious if anyone has had issues with stone crabs plucking polyps from SPS. In my inpatients to cycle and mature a tank I used Florida live rock, I knew the risks and have been removing crabs, I had not scene any issues the last three months till one took a liking to my only LPS and was nipping off pieces of the hammer. Will work on catching the rest but wondering if it ever is a big issue or if the polyps retract fast enough.

Grow him out and snap off a claw or two :)

Good eating. J/k

Common to find hitchhikers in the fla rock. Most people soak them or cycle them first looking for said hitchhikers and remove them before adding to the display.

Any hairy crab is likely going to be an issue for sps. I would defiantly try and pull them out when you can.

I have gotten several nasty non reef friendly crabs on live rock. One I had for years did not know until I upgraded tanks and found it in the rock, it got so large it could no longer come out of its little cave. 2.5" long black crab with large claws. I found several missing frags in with it. Also had a few hair crabs and gorilla crabs.
