I have a 80g frag set up looking to get wet as a possible QT for Corals. Just read the Mike Pelleta article on mariculture, wild and aquaculture Corals and kinda got a bug. Has anyone ordered a box of aco from this place? What was you experience and how was the product?

I order live rock and bread and butter stuff from him. It was all really nice and would order from him again if I had the room.

I'm thinking about putting in an order for a box of acros. It would be nice to actually purchase some small colonies, instead of nubs. They may take some time to color up, but it is the same with frags. My biggest concern is the QT and how long it should be done.. would I be wrong in thinking a wrasse or two and maybe a tang in the QT set up would be essential in picking critters and algaes?

Don't say bug and acro in the same sentence

You probably should give Mitch a call to see what is running. I know that it will depend on the islands and what they are shipping. They don't always have acros in the sizes you may want and it is island time always for them. If you have ever been to Fiji then you know what Fiji time is. Lol

Oh, I know island time. Lol. I would want to get the 80g up and running first, thinking towards the end of the year possibly to order. Alan, have you purchased Corals here? I'm not looking for large but mini colonies (3").

A few pieces from the greenhouse list. They were very nice and I still have them. Over 6 months ago. I was going to do a box of acros but my tank filled up to quickly.

Where is that Mike Paletta article you speak of?
It was actually on the top of the R2R home page last night

The Pros and Cons of Aquacultured vs Maricultured vs Wild Coral Colonies
Visiting MACNA or any of the large frag swaps or shows 10 years ago the vendors present for the most part displayed large wild colonies of coral...

This is a bit of an older thread but I ordered the Premium Acros that are maricultured a few months ago, 22 corals in total, 1 monti unfortunately did not make it past the first day but everything else was in great health. They came in awesome and colorful, very large small-med colonies and did great in my tank until I starved everything. I still have most of the colonies but just now starting to color back up. I will have to search for the pics I took a few days after I received the box order. I ordered the box that had the efflo in it and I am so excited that its finally starting to grow/color up nicely again.
My buddy also ordered some live rock from Fiji and it was excellent according to him.

And Mitch is a good guy.

The loss of what I think is the Acropora jacquelineae and granulosa really hurt the most, as they were my favs besides the efflo. I am just super grateful that the efflorescens is still with me, I would have really thought about quitting if it had passed.
I hope this helps for those that are thinking about ordering from them.

Shawn did you ever order from them? I'm curious because I'm in the beginning stage of putting together a similar size frag system with the intent of starting a zoa frag collection. And there zoa box looks tempting.

I actually haven’t. We are shopping for a new home, so these projects are on hold

Ah fair enough... Well good luck with your search I know that can be a heck of a job
