This is probably more geared toward you folks on the west coast, but have any of you tried freeboarding? I've been bombing hills on my longboard for 8 years or so and I've been snowboarding for about the same. After clicking an ad on Facebook I found that there was a sort of mash between the two board sports and I'm interested in what some of your experiences are.

That’s awesome. I’d do it in a heart beat but no hills here in Florida lol. I SUP a lot tho....me and my gf

That dude is insane....at least wear knee and elbow pads lol.
He gets points for style, plus it make it easier for the road to eat him if he falls. I've fallen both while snowboarding and while long boarding and can confirm that falling on pavement is indeed worse that falling on snow.

Nope heck no lol stick with flat ground tricks
I wonder though what the temperature of those wheels were at the bottom of the hill
I would think they aren't much hotter than the pavement. He didn't do much flat spotting other than to stop. All the carving is just changing your direction to be more perpendicular to the hill. The bearings on the other hand were probably somewhere between ow those are hot and liquid hot magma.

I feel you on the lack of hills. I'm pretty close to a few mountains but car traffic discourages you from plummeting down a slope on a piece of fiber enforced maple on some plastic wheels at 40 MPH.
That's a beautiful spot by the way. Where was that picture taken?

I was deciding between powertools (a table saw and miter saw) or an Apex Classic for Christmas. Now this enters the picture???

Aarrrgghhh.

I just started taking my 6 year old to the skate park and i may introduce this bad boy!!

Power tools, especially table saws, can be dangerous. There's nothing safer than barreling down a mountain at 40+ mph on a board with just some plastic pads between you and the worst road rash of your life.
All kidding aside, this seems like a pretty sick off season alternative to snowboarding. A longboard just doesn't give the same range of movement as the free board seems to.

Yes gravel hurts worse. Nothing better than having road rash scrubbed for infection and than picking out the rocks from your skin. Looks cool as hell tho.
It must be the same basic principals as snowboarding. All you have to do is not fall. Sounds easy enough haha

I've still got the marks from 20 years ago. A spoke on my bike's rear wheel snapped and wrapped around the frame. I laid it over on the right side as I was moving away from oncoming traffic and took myself about down to the kneecap. I borrowed a hose from the homeowner who was watering his hedge, rinsed it out real nice, snapped off the rest of the spoke and rode back home.

Good find. I'll have to check that out next time I'm down that way. With my current level of free time, hopefully sometime in the next decade haha

Ya it’s one of my favorites here. We have our own boards but they also do rentals. You can float like 6 miles down a river then they bus you back to your car

Thats awesome. We have the Battenkill that runs from Vermont through Upstate New York thats a similar setup. Start upstream and do about 10 miles to another lot and then shuttle back to start. I've been kayaking there since I was little and its always a blast.

Yes, I've tried it. I was an expert Snowboarder for 20 years. But, after trying Freeboarding about six times with full pads and hitting the pavement a few times it was sold. Plus I'm over 40 so I'll stick to the snow.
