So like the title says anyone ever use this light. I dont need a new light but came across this and wanted to see if anyone ever use it. Seems pretty nice for the price but we all know we get what we pay for. I prefer to stick to AI primes and Hydras but for someone on a budget this may be an interesting choice if it would work.

Never heard of them, but looking at those PAR values in the pictures made me chuckle. HIGHLY doubt they're 1800 PAR 6 inches under.

This issue came up once before.. Still awaiting an adventurous one to give real numbers..

diodes are lensed 90 degrees though only 1/2W-ers..
more troubling is their short lifespan listed at 5000 hours.. Not sure if that's a typo or realistic.. ;)

So because I get bored easily I decided I’m going to tinker with a 40 breeder I purchased as a frag tank, I’m thinking should I do one Mars Aqua or the Relassy 300 watt, just trying to de die for a budget build which will be a better light to grow los and sps successfully. Any thoughts?

I know I’m late to the party, but I’ve had both the Mars and Relassy for four months and the Relassy (I have two on my 75G DT) won by far. Mars Aqua didn’t come with an app so now it’s an excellent refugium light for my red oro and chaeto.

The Relassys on the other hand have turned out far better than my 5 bulb T5 (because of channel control and LED shimmering and far more wattage). Plus everything is growing faster and if they last until their two year warranty they wind up being cheaper than the T5 replacements. They’re also much bigger than the average black box and as I said the software seems to just work (for once). It’s my fourth fixture counting the T5, Orbit IC, MarsAqua black box, and now two Relassys. They’re also lighter with no fans so they’re absolutely silent.

Just my 2 cents, but I was expecting another let down and found these to be an incredible bargain for the wattage and high quality LEDs (Cree and Here’s hoping they last! They do say 5k hours but specify that the LEDs would last far longer so they’re trying to be reasonable about the longevity of everything else.

Are you comparing the Relassy to the Mars Aqua 165w or the 300w? I'm very curious about the Relassy...

Based on my (somewhat limited) knowledge of LED's, I would be concerned with penetration. Ecotech, AI, Orphek, etc., all use 3-5W LED's because they are able to penetrate deeper than other LED's. With just 0.5W LED's, I think these lights might be great for shallow tanks, say <18", but they would likely be insufficient for deeper tanks. That is unless you were to keep only low light corals in the lower parts of the tank. It would be interesting to see real world PAR numbers from the light though.

Does Cree really have 13000K and 20000K white diodes? I wonder if they are calling rejects from phosphor problems as such.

Sometimes I think "someone" buys CREE royal blue emitters and "phosphor" them themselves..
No proof, just an opinion...

Still may be lower "bins" though..

That would be crazy. From the deceptive marketing of this company, I wouldn't be surprised if Cree/Osram LED is a simple lie. In one of Amazon comments, which blamed their deceptive marketing, the company replied "the power consumption of the LED aquarium light is 65W±5%, which produces the light value of a 300 watt incandescent light." hmmm...

Well an "incandescent" comparison doesn't really apply but it is generally correct..
Ignore the ancient pricing below.. ;)
