Anyone from ohio?

From Michigan here... a little drive for you probably but Tropicorium is a good one in southeast Michigan

I may check it out one day. It's not too bad of a drive for me. I have plans to go to Perrysburg in the next few months so I'll already be over halfway there

I used to drive to salty critter when there, about an hour drive but was very well worth it. Was a great store and very knowledgeable and friendly owner. Been years I didn't travel to the US so not sure if they're still there.

They are there still. Have been thinking about going back because the 1 time I was there it was pretty nice. all the stores are 40 minutes minimum from me now that I moved. I was about 20 minutes from Blue Fish before I moved so I use to just go there.

Extreme tropical pets in youngstown ohio, tidal gardens in Copley ohio,
Bluefish aquariums in clevland ohio,
Rms aquaculture in middleburg heights ohio
Corals reefs in Akron ohio
Salty critter in vermillion ohio

Also you can support online vendors from ohio such as @Lazy Based out of Dayton, color splash corals in chillicothe
Affiliate with Csea reef club and 3rmas
You could try shopping around in nw pa as Erie and Pittsburgh both have a reefing circuit

Or shop with wholesaler John schellhorn @Corals.com out of warren/niles ohio

Or todd melman at reef systems in new Albany ohio which would probably be a few hour drive but he was one of the first people to bring aquaculture to ohio

Hope this helps @keithw283

These are the two closest for me. I am in 44217(farm fields haha), and it’s about 30-35mins for me.

I think the town/city is “Columbia Station”…

Aquatica - For Coral/frags, then fish/livestock
Aquatic Technology - For fish/livestock, then coral/frags

Aquatica also has a huge Freshwater section, but both stores carry tons of supplies/equipment/foods/etc.

They are about 10mins from each other so that makes it nice. Hit two decent stores quickly.

I wouldn’t say these are my true favorites, but they are the best bang for their buck in regards to my location.

Yeah it definitely helps. I've always been weary to shop online for livestock tbh. I know tons of people have success but it just stresses me out lol. Coral reefs is actually where I got my first few fish for my current tank. Got a few members of my CuC from blue fish. Extreme tropical pets is on my list and tidal gardens is now too. Do you know their hours? Or are the only online because Google doesn't list them

Only one I visit anymore is BlueFish. Used to go to RMS but strictly for freshwater....I would avoid all things saltwater from there unless you are just purchasing dry goods/equipment.

@keithw283 tidal gardens is online only now due to covid but I believe they still do appointments(call ahead and schedule)you could always ask @Luke Schnabel more info as I believe he works there

As for extreme tropical pets kate is my go to she is open during the week and on saturdays and she is usually opens 10 am to 5pm. If she doesn't have something u want she can order it she is for sure my favorite fish lady! As Youngstown ohio is one of the hardest working cities in America, she put in the time and has been doing this since the 90s

Aqutica for sure. Really good amount of frags and tons of equipment, they've been extremely helpful. Aquatic technology is decent. There is a new store in Macedonia also maybe he'll chime in. Coral Reefs is a nice little spot, lots of livestock and frags not too much on the equipment side. Saltwater havens in ellet may as well be a fleamarket/junk store...

The guy at saltwater havens is probably nicer than anyone shop owner at any store I've been to before though. I just wouldn't buy livestock from there.

What are your top 2-3 LFS in northeast ohio?
We moved to NC three years ago, but lived in Lorain County in Ohio forever. We used Salty Critter in Vermilion because the owner and employees were always welcoming and knowledgeable. Tidal Gardens had great frags and extremely knowledgeable also.

What's the store in Macedonia? Triton marine? I've been there before but Google tells me it's closed permanently

Oh for sure, super nice guy I remember back when it was Capt. Nemos (I think) he was always super nice and the old store had tons of live stock, his prices were awesome. I was just in a few weeks ago and it's looking really rough....
