I just purchased two Wave Point ultra growth T5 bulbs from Amazon and they will be delivered on Friday. I have T5s supplementing a 250w halide. I had actinic bulbs but had to take them out because it was messing with my vision. I had lasik surgery a couple years ago and I read the wave length of actinic bulbs is very bad for your eyes.

I replaced them with a 10k Coralife and although the blue is gone I still like the brightness. I read that the red spectrum is great for growing coral. These bulbs have a blue spectrum but peak around the 680nm range.

Has anyone had any luck or input in these bulbs?

I have the blue and coral growth (purple) as supplemental lighting on a 75 Gal mixed reef. They accidentally sent me one of these ultra growth in my shipment and I plan to swap one of my whites out once they need to be replaced. It’s definitely a full spectrumn bulb. You’ll have to post back and let us know how it’s working. My whites are close to needing to be swapped out so I’m interested how this works out for you.

I’d be hesitant to run more than 1 of those. Red spectrum CAN be helpful for growth and color, but only on some species of coral. Some deeper water species may
Be pretty sensitive to it. Here’s the deal about blue and violet light being bad for your eyes. Those bulbs contain just as much blue and violet light as your actinic bulbs did, it’s just masked and hidden visually by the huge amount of red and green. So you can’t perceive it, but it’s still there. If actinics are bad for you, those are equally bad.

Good point!
