I will be going through a 76 days fishless SPS tank because I had to take out all the fish due to the ich infection.

Anyway here are my questions:

1. Does anyone has a fishless SPS tank (stand alone tank)?

2. How do you provide nutrients to the tank? I do not think snail poop is sufficient.

3. Can I dose Acropower for nutrition and do I dose more than recommended since I am not feeding any fish?

4. How long have you had your fishless SPS tank?

Is it only snails? I had to go fallow aswell since brook took over my tank. I have hemits, snails shrimp in the tank that i just kept feeding about every other day.

My tanks more lps dominated tough so this isnt really the same scenario but my point is, if theres critters in the tank just keep feeding small amounts.

My coral quarantine tank is fishless, as they need to be to manage/eliminate fish disease. It's been running for a year. snail poop is pretty good at providing adequate nutrients. I feed reef roids and benepets once a week or so and add phyto every couple of days. Keep an eye on nutrients, but I don't think it will be a problem.

I went fallow in my display tank once a few years ago and it was the best my SPS ever looked.

I had a fish-less SPS system while setting up a new tank and going fallow, I dosed nitrate and phosphate to keep nutrients up.

I have only had fish in the tank for a few weeks. Admittedly I'm going through some changes, I had some corals that were happier without fish and some that are improving now that I've added fish. My tank is pretty much all acropora.

Yes and no. I have one, but it has shrimp that get fed flake food, snails and urchins in it. I do run a skimmer and it does skim some stuff. There is enough algae growing to feed the snails and urchins.
