Anyone have a 29 gallon Oceanic Biochbe

Someone gave me one but it doesn't have a pump so I'm trying to figure out what all I need to make it work.

It has all the bioballs, filter, and such all in the back but no kind of pump. I have a plain 210gph submersible pump laying around. Was wandering if that would be enough filtrationn. Right now just using it as a qt tank

The pump is pretty standard doesnt need to be any in particular most use the same size tubing just look for something that fits in the third compartment and has a decent gph

I would look for a sicce 2.0. I replaced the stock one in my innovative marine 30 gallon with it and the thing is silent. Bottom line is you can use anything that fits....but you will regret getting a louder cheaper pump. I speak from experience lol.

Oh and if this is for a reef get rid of the bioballs and you absolutely want more than 200gph.

Depending on the type of coral you're thinking about keeping and their "required" flow rate, I'd be looking for a pump that fits compartment and plumbing, and has about 300 - 350 gph rating; more if you plan to keep SPS.

Yeah I guess I should have specified ^ that as well lol. I keep a mixed reef so lots of flow.

MJ295 or something similar from rio or eihem will be good. Get rid of the bio balls, get media basket and run chemi pure blue + filter foss (or something else you prefer).
I'll recommend getting rid of the hood, that will let you use better lights (kessil or radion) and help keeping temperature down

I replaced my stock Biocube 32 pump with a Sicce 1.5 combined with the Koralia 425 and couldn't be happier. BTW, flow rate is adjustable which provides options for the future.

I also used a Sicce 1.5 in my BC32. Very quiet and packs a good punch coming out of the return nozzle. I wound up backing off my mp-10 after adding it.

I'm wondering if the return rate would be significantly affected by putting an IM Spin Stream on the Sicce; have you tried this by chance? I'd really like to randomize my water flow.

I havent tried it. I considered it but the mp10 in and out of various modes throughout the day provides more than enough variation for me.

I've had my Biocube29 for a little over 5yrs. I run an aquatic life 115 skimmer with air intake mod in chamber 1, chamber 2 is a diy media rack similar to Stevie T's and an eggcrate rack full of cheato and chamber 3 is the heater and a mj1200 return pump. I use marineland maxi jet because it's cheap and efficient.
