Anyone have a healthy looking fish with HLLE ?

Hello I have a Flame Angel that I've had in my tank for around 6 months, He is very active, colorful, and endearing or otherwise healthy in most aspects. Flamey was near death with HLLE and ick when I acquired him from an LFS, I brought him back from the brink feeding him garlic/selcon soaked foods consisting of Frozen, Flake, pellet basically everything. He still has HLLE and I'm wondering if it will ever go away what do you guys think? does anybody reading this have an Angel with HLLE that seems in very good health?

I haven't ever seen claims of complete reversal of HLLE. Improvement and/or slowing of the progression maybe - but nothing more.

You can have fish that recover from hlle but depending on how bad it was, you may have permanent scars. You see this more often with tangs and many go on to live normal lives.

Sounds like you’re doing a good job. Hlle can be reversed. My yellow had it for years. A big change recently in the diet helped the hlle and color. It took about 5 months,. I used Selcon and Zoecon a lot. I started feeding black worms and freshly frozen clams along with various other foods. Try LRS or Rods.

Give it time and it should turn around

Hmmm interesting...
Maybe the marks on him are just scars none of the wounds look open or like the HLLE holes that I have seen present on Tangs before,they look like lightly colored strips of tissue located in front of his gills I will get a pic if he stays still lol

I was given a 2” Regal Tang that was malnourished and had HLLE. I was able to get it back in great health, color and weight, but over 4 years I was never able to get it’s skin and color to return to the scarred areas. I re-homed the tang when it was 10 inches.
