There are a number of benefits attributed to the use if oxydators. Some easily measured some not so and some anecdotal as follows.I have previously read that whole long thread and my conclusion is...it seems to most certainly have benefits, but I haven't been persuaded that those benefits have enough real world benefit for me to get one.
I would think the main benefit they offer is for improved water clarity.
Personally, I already have a big UV on my system I kick on just occasionally when I want to polish my water (and/or I dump some calcium Carbonate in my tank for polishing) so I don't need another water clarity process.
The 2nd primary benefit is improved O2 levels. The result here seems to be hit or miss from what others have said in the main thread. Maybe you'll get improved O2, maybe you won't...
Thanks! There are a number of benefits attributed to the use if oxydators. Some easily measured some not so and anecdotal as follows.
1/ Clearer looking water. Often the first thing a user notices on the introduction of an Oxydator.
2/ increase in redox.
3/ Increase in O2.
4/ Increase in vitality of fish.
5/ Increase in fish colours.
6/ Great benefit in tacking disease and parasitic infection. EG with the likes of white spot helping the fish breath while it is fighting it.
7/ reduction in the parasitic free swimming stage. However, though there seems some evidence in this respect it is so far anecdotal with no real scientific studies that I am aware of, just what some report with fish showing less infection.
The above does not mean you will notice all the above but hopefully users will at least notice a number of them.
Personally I can report that I have been using Oxydators for around 30 years in various marine aquaria. In that time I have never had a serious outbreak of any disease evennthough I never QT and gave bought fish and corals from many different LFSs. Some of them with not the best of reputations when it comes to selling fish that have been claimed introduced white spot from them.
