I use their system and I struggled with copepods, likely something I did like not enough light. However for phyto I could make so much so fast that by feeding it to the tank I feel like I make up for the lack of success in doing the pod part of the deal. When the glass gets a little film algae I see a lot of the buggers, and my leopard wrasse & copperband are always hunting which makes me think the pod population is sustaining itself with the phyto alone. They make a great kit and I am very happy with it overall!
My only suggestion for phyto is to keep about 500ml separate and at the ready in the fridge to restart should you get a crash. As long as you shake it every few days it will survive for quite a long time. I usually do both tanks at the same time for a week which gives me enough phyto at 100ml/day for almost a month! It's paid for itself by now.
