Good reef karma Jay. I no longer use macro, but instead got the start of a xenia fuge going.

The thought is that they take up nutrients as they pulse and multiply. I don't have a photo as the lights are now off in that section, but I made this video last night and even talked about the xenias a little.

Xenia use for nutrient uptake has been done for a long time, but no mentioned much like it was 15+ years ago. My understanding is it uses a lot more calcium and a few other minerals that the chaeto does not. Works just as well as the chaeto tho.

I did some xenia in my fuge bac k in the day as well.
I also will be need clean a small amount of clean chaeto in the next week or 2. Any one out in Mesa habe any to part with?

I have a large cheato chamber in my sump and a display fuge full of Xenia. Nutrients are never an issue I actually dose to keep them up.
Is your xenia pulsing xenia? I have been looking for some. I think they are beautiful. My husband thought he bought some from a reef store in Mesa but they turned out to be blue clove polyps.
Yep it's pulsing, it's mesmerizing, as you can see from my fuge it definitely takes over.
