I have a DIY Rapid Led fixture that I built about 2 months ago. I have 3 drivers, whites, royal blues, and red green and uv. Came home today and the red green and uv strand isn't working. I have power at all of the LEDs and power going into the driver. I've checked all of my grounds and supply voltage to the driver itself. Wouldn't this mean that the driver itself is bad? I just don't understand how I have voltage to the LEDs and they don't light up unless there's an open ground in the driver somewhere.

Email Rapid they are quick to respond and will take care of you. I had a driver go bad, they said the company has since recommended not running the drivers at 100%, but I ordered a new one and they put a return shipping label in the order. I mailed it back and when they confirmed it was a bad driver they refunded me the price of the driver.

The only ones I run above 50% are the blues and they're only at 70%. Ill e-mail them in the morning. Just wanted a second opinion on my diagnosing.

LED Help

I may be able to help you. You may have a shorted LED in your circuit. When light emitting diodes fail they typically fail in a shorted condition. Check each LED INDEPENDENTLY with your LED tester (2 AA batteries) that was provided by RapidLED. A shorted LED will keep all of your LEDs in the strand from working. If you checked all of your LEDs then ensure your driver has about 20-24 Volts on the red-black leads with no LEDs connected. When you do figure out the problem then be sure to adjust your current thru the LEDs to 1.3A per the instructions. If you have any questions I can help!

I would also recommend checking each LED to the heat sink to make sure that the heatsink is not acting as a ground. I have had that problem before. Good luck. Also Email the company they have awesome customer service

I emailed them last night. I'm bringing home my better meter from work today. I'm gonna check each led to see if one is shorted. I doubt I have a problem with a short to the heat sink. They've been working fine for over a month.

Found the problem. All of the LEDs on that strand are bad. Not sure if I was running them too hard or if the driver was what killed them. I only run that strand at about 40%.

Yea that aint right something caused that to happen for a whole row to go out...

Right now I have it so that the power to the drivers are switched off to turn off the lights at night on the timer. Didn't think about it causing an inductive spike and I think that's what caused it. I'm replacing the driver and LEDs and I'm going to put the controller on the timer and have the power to the drivers to constant power.

LED Problem

Like I mentioned before, make sure your current is set to 1.3A. When I received my driver it was set to over 2A. Do you know how to measure current? We are here to help!

Yes ill have to wait until my new LEDs come to measure it. How do you adjust it tho? I saw a knob inside the driver when I took it apart last.

There is a process on adjusting them and RapidLED sends those instructions in the mail or you can find them on the website. The drivers they sent me don't go higher then 1.3A, I just had to adjust for the red/green/blue LEDs so they weren't overdriven.

I bought my supplies in a group buy between 3 people who have built the fixtures before, so I didn't receive any instructions, just showed up at their house and helped wire everything together.
