Anyone have issues with Gulf Live Rock?

Hi Everyone, happy Wednesday!
I ordered a piece of decorative live rock last Wednesday and haven't received any confirmation of shipment yet. I sent an email and tried the phone number, but it went straight to voicemail and the email went unanswered. I think the holiday probably played a part in no shipment on Monday, but I'm getting a little nervous that I'll either miss the delivery (because I can't track it) or that it won't ship at all. Any experiences?

I had a similar experience a few months ago with them. Placed an order and didn't hear anything for 3 weeks. Called them and he answered the phone though. He shipped right away after talking to him on the phone.

Thanks. I left a voicemail. It didn't ring at all, so the phone is off or he isn't accepting calls right now. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I ordered from Tampa Bay Saltwater nearly three weeks ago. They've been in contact with me, but there's been no rock yet. They explained that the waters in the gulf have been so stormy they haven't been able to dive, which means they have a big backlog. They didn't dive the first two weeks of January. They managed to get in two dives last week (deliveries for people who ordered before me), but don't expect any this week. They may get my rock next week.

Given Gulf Live Rock picks up from essentially the same area as TBS, my guess is they are unable to deliver for the same reasons. That said, they should have been in contact with you.

Thanks for the insight! That makes a lot of sense, but yes, you're right, the communication could be better.

That was the problem, rock was very cold temps that week were way below freezing,no heat packs. Was basically dead and dying. After a lot of back and forth we finally reached an agreement but it was very poorly handled on their part.

Yeah, I'm afraid of that as well, unfortunately. It's about 40 here right now, but I'm only a 1 day transit on most systems.
Any suggestions for better distributors?

I sent an email to gulf live rock a few days before Christmas. He responded the same day. I was informed that he would not be shipping any rock till the second week of January at the earliest due to the holidays and the shipping being slow.

I did place an order like 16 months ago that came in quick. I was super happy with that order. I'm planning on placing another order next Friday for some more rock. I'll let you know how that goes.

Well that’s a good sign! I actually just received a shipping notification from him. I really hope it doesn’t get stuck over the weekend, but I purposely bought small this time as a test run. I’ve heard great things and quite honestly, there’s no where that has decent rock in Philly. Haha (unless I’m missing someone!)
