A few months ago I upgraded my tank, I made a plan of what I wanted it to be, got the corals and fish that I wanted and now it's closed.

There's not a single frag or fish going in in the foreseeable future.

There're a few reasons why I did this:

- I don't want to introduce any (more) pests into the tank;

- I don't want to bring a disease to the tank;

- I had a goal for the tank and I want to stick to it;

- I want to reduce diversity in order to make it easier to achieve harmony.

hahahahaha funny
It is totally ok not to spend the bank on more stuff. Now if you listen to all the vendors' hype you need new stuff all the time. This deal that deal Xmas in July ... blah blah blah.

It's not been easy and I closed the tank only a few weeks ago. I hope it's a bit like quitting smoking, it should get easier. When I had my first reef I managed to stay with just a couple of clowns for 2 years.

Two of my tanks are almost 'closed', Maybe two more frags each on my wishlist I have planned and no more. I will be relieved tbh.... my wallet will be relieved.

I’ve tried that in the past but I get bored pretty quick if I’m not adding new things. Most of the fun for me is researching new acros and fish and then going on the hunt for them. Once I have them I move on to looking for what I want to be the next addition.

I thought boredom could be a problem too, but on one hand, the tank is always changing and on the other, it's said that happiness has no story :)

I close my tank every night And open it again in the morning. Its a sickness really. We should get disability or something.

But really, my tank is closed for fish, for now. I am content with what is there. The future, who knows.

I had a softie tank at my office for a few years with no additions. It was a 15g with a sealed lid and I think I did three water changes in 2 years. There was a damsel and a peacock mantis in there and that's it and the corals grew like crazy and it looked amazing. No skimmer, just a simple setup that was left alone and worked out great.
