Anyone keeping Dwarf Angels in their reefs?

I have a 125 gallon mixed reef tank. I would love to be able to have a flame angel in this tank. I had one in my previous fowlr and it is probably my favorite fish. I know it can be done but is it worth it is the question? Do you guys keep them and find that the good outweighs the bad or are they too destructive on your corals? Also if you are keeping them in your reef tanks maybe share what species of angelfish you have as well as types of corals you have. In my reef tank I have a little bit of everything. Acros, Milles, BN, Montis, Hammers, Torch, Brains, Leptos, Duncans, Zoas, etc.

What kind of corals do you have with your flame?

thats the one I will be going for as well. If you play the odds best to play the odds with the highest favor. Wanted the flame but can settle with a CB. Put in an ebli angel? once and hated it lol - that was before I know what I know now lol Not to mention the mixed reef it is going into - doesnt hold any of my prize pieces - leaving me a bit more hopeful for the end result.

I have a tank full of softies and a few lps and my coral beauty doesn't bother anything.

I have a mixed reef that I introduced a Coral Beauty and Flame Angel to at the same time. They get along great but at first I did notice my Flame Angel would nip at my chalices , I later moved them all to another tank and transferred some zoanthids to this tank. As of now I keep blastos, many different hammers , plenty of Zoanthids and a frag of Acropora . No issues since the initial nipping at the chalices.

The one I had to watch out for was my pink spotted goby, he would bite my fungi plates.

I've had the worst luck ever with flame Angels. I've tried 3 different ones over the years and everyone I've tried has nipped at my sps's and clams. I achualy lost one one my clams because it got so many tears in its mantle. And like any fish there a bear to catch. I only kept the ones from Hawaii tho, Donno if I have the worst luck with flames or what

I have to mention, I started to feed way more than I used to before I had the angels and I think that has kept the Flame Angel from nipping.

I've had my flame angel for about a month in a lps/zoa 40 Breeder. So far, he is a model citizen. I feed about 4 times a day. So far, I haven't seen him pick at any of my acans or blastos.

The flame angel plays nice with my clown, yellow tang, McCosker wrasse and rainford goby. The only fish that he'll mess with is my blue chromis.

I have a Potters Angle in my tank. I have had this fish for about a month. No problems. I have a mixed reef. lots and lots of coral. I feed once a day.

Woo! Sounds like there is hope for a flame angel in my tank. Do dwarfs seem to be prone to nip certain corals? If so which ones? I am thinking about going full sps

The only corals I have in my 125g are a few colonies/frags of Zoas, but the Flames Angel does not bother them a single bit. I have an algae grazer in the tank permanently that I refill about every other day. The Flame angel picks on the contents of that a lot. It spends the rest of the day picking algae of the rocks, and my overflow box. He couldn't care less about the presence of the Zoas.

I've got a coral beauty. Mostly sps tank, but I also have a clam, plate coral, galaxea, goniopora, chalice, leptoseris, toadstool and some gorgonians. It hasn't bothered anything. I get great polyp extension all the time. It was a little aggressive when I first put it in, but now things have calmed down. I have heard that coral beauty's are one of the best for a reef though, not to sure about a flame angel. My local fish store has a flame in their display tank with a bunch of stuff and it seems to be fine.

IMO it all depends where it was collected from and what lived in its natural environment. It can be a bit of a gamble. With that said.....I have a 150g mixed reef and successfully keep a Centropyge tibicen, commonly known as a Keyhole Angel. He doesn't mess with any of my softies, LPS, or the SPS I keep. I also keep them well fed so this helps out. The only thing negative I can say about mine is he tends to be a bit aggressive to new comers, however he quickly warms up to them.

I have 3 in mine. Lemonpeel,flame,and a coral beauty. As well as an emperer angel. All are great except lemonpeel nips occasionally.

I have a Cherub Pygmy in my current reef and have had a Flame and a Flameback in past reefs. I've never seen anything beyond an occasional nip. I feed daily, which I think helps.

I've had 3 dwarf angels so far, all of them picked/ate my corals.
First flame - picked and my leathers and acans
Second flame - freaking terrorized all of my fish in my 75 g and picked at my toadstool, montipora, little bit of everything softies, lps
Multicolor - Is slowly killing my large toadstool, he will actually pick off polyps. I feed 4x a day too, last angel fish for me.
