Anyone kept one in a reef tank?

I had a pair for years. I just took them out a month or so ago so I could add cleaner shrimp.
Besides eating shrimp they were model tank mates.
I actually kind of regret taking them out:)

I think I'd rather give the shrimp a miss if I'm honest

I used to keep a predatory reef, marine betta and dwarf lions. housed with anthias, clowns, damsels and some other smaller more passive fish. no issues

I have two betta tanks in my house. I love Betta fish. I was gonna get a Marine Betta until i found out they can grow to 8 inches... My tank is just not big enough for that much fish. But someday if I ever decide to get a very big tank I will want one.

I have a pr in my tank, have had them since March, they haven't gone after my cleaners, bloods, and peppermints.

Lol my tusk used to throw all my frags from my rack into a pile litterally everynight watta pain, but betas are beautiful fish tho always see em but never in a reef

Never had these bother my shrimps. I think if you add the shrimp after they automatically thinks it's food.

i had a baby one who grow quite fast and big :) loved this fish , was from far one of the most interesting to watch. when he was not happy use to go out of rocks fins way up to look even more big :D . he passed away when heteractis went into pump . i regret this fish

I would love one, but the one thing I keep hearing is they don't come out from the rocks much until the lights go off.

That is the general consensus however, as with all fish there are some that are more active then others :)

Very nice fish, they just love caves

Yes he is a little guy.

I always make it a point to use a Betta in every single set up that I do, never in 20 plus years have I EVER had a problem with these guys. They never look at the shrimp whatsoever, but I wouldn't add small shrimp into the tank after the betta has been established for a bit. While they are pretty shy, they always pop out during the day which makes them (imo) even more interesting seeing as some fish you see all the dang time. Graceful, beautiful, and even at their max size, they eat very little and have very little impact on the overall load in the tank. Hilarious when longtime residents will threaten you if you get too close to their cave. Definitely worth having one!
