I need to know if there are any ideas or experiences with a damaged sea cucumber? He was doing great, and then I found him in 2 pieces! One small section of him in a hole of a rock, the rest of him sticking out of another hole! I removed him and put him in a bucket, with heater and air tube. That was 2 nights ago. He is still alive. He is currently climbing up the side of the bucket. I want him to heal! He has no food source, and I dont know if that's okay for now.

Is there ANYTHING I can do??????

I removed him because I wasnt sure if something had attacked him. I have some red leg hermits that are kind of big compared to my other hermits. And it was kind of a knee-jerk reaction. If it dies, I dont want it dying in the tank, right?

Sea cucumbers naturally split as a means of propagation and do so in our home tanks.

Not sure how well it will do so from an injury tbh. Id say your chances are better if its a tigertail vs any other genus.

It will need a food source for any chance of healing. Which ime will require sand, flow and particulate foods.

It is a tiger tail. I can put him in a tank that has an established but shallow bed, and pods love that tank. I just pulled everything out of it last night (remaining hermits and a couple corals), but left the sand, a heater and sponge filter running.

As far as particulate foods go, what would
you suggest? I have some reef roids, reef frenzy, cyclopeze, fish eggs, a little left in my bottles of phyto and zoo-planktons.

Ive never had to feed in an established tank, theres enough food thats already present usually.

What he said.

At this point it's just... sad? I moved him to the little tank. He's been moving slowly, also eating. I just hope he's not getting my hopes up.
