I got these about a month ago, I knew what they were as soon as I saw them.
This is the first time I have seen one even partially open in the daytime, they are nocturnal.
Looking at the stems I would say that they want to shed like a leather, I have a very fine pastry brush I use on corals, should I try giving one a helping hand, they appear quite sturdy?
I have tried flow and basting.

I usually just wait until the shed is mostly/completely detached before siphoning it off. It can be hard to remove if you try to soon and I never wanted to irritate them by pulling it off before they were ready. And I’ve never had any kind of negative effect from leaving it on. I’ve actually seen them eat it a few times!

Thank you.

Have a few in my tank. They were always open in the tankni got them from but they rarely open in my tank. Only difference is they were fed much more in previous tank. I still see them open at night sometimes and they open large feather like polyps. I never clean any shed and never knew they did.

I have them in my 75 gallon. Very underrated IMO. I don’t even bother when they shed anymore, they seem to take care of themselves.

I have had 2 nice green ones for over 3 years. Never a new polyp produced in all that time. A few months ago I moved them downstairs to a big frag tray where I could feed them more easily. 2 new polyps already!

So, I think they can live fine with no feeding- but for growth you need to feed.

Mine only open in the dead of night, and they are very reactive to light, closing up quickly. I feed them live white worms, which they snatch with great speed.

Ive seen these in the display at my lfs. Never seen them open but they have a nice size colony that appears to be growing. Freaky looking for sure.
