This is on a local Petco- listed as “assorted damselfish”

doesn’t look like a damsel to me. Anyone recognize this fish?

I always read they were on the less aggressive side of the dottyback spectrum. But I have no personal experience.
Maybe I should have said territorial - mine will readily challenge much bigger fish if they get too close.

+1 on Splendid Dottyback.
I had one years ago when they were really hard to find and quite costly. Nice fish and no more aggressive than other dottybacks. I never have my dottybacks be too aggressive towards my other fish but then, my other fish are all either larger or meaner than dottybacks.

Young Splendid Dottyback assorted damsels are 2 dollars there these guys are 40-75 bucks if you have a qt this would be worth a shot
I was going to buy it for $9.99 but then another Petco person came and wouldn’t sell it because they did not have the code for the register. Couldn’t give me a price and said I had to come back when fish dept supervisor was there. ... so no go. I do have a QT and was planning on getting it, but I’ll try again tomorrow.

I say get it. Dottybacks tend to pick a cave and defend it. They're very territorial about that exact cave, but tankmates pretty quickly learn to leave the cave alone, and they don't chase much outside their territory. Unless your tank is really small, they generally get along fairly well with other things.

I have a 90 gal, mixed reef maybe a bit over stocked?
Blue tang
Scopus tang
Kole tang
3 clowns
Pink smith damselfish
Coral beauty
Cardinal fish
5x blue/green cromis
Lubucks fairy wrass
Pair ruby red dragonettes

had a lawnmower blenny but haven’t seen him in a while?

The dottyback should work. However, your tangs won't. More than one of the tangs you've listed needs a bigger tank than that, and you'll likely see fighting as they start to mature further. Your tank looks really nice, but at least two of the tangs should go. The kole tang may be okay, but keep a close eye on it as it grows, and be aware they can hit 6-7" long.

What is that round shape on the bottom left? Is that a really big RFA?

Splendid dottyback!!!!! My second favorite fish. Beautiful when they mature. Never had any problems with him being mean but I would definitely add him last to ur tank.

I know the Tang’s will our grow. The blue tang came with the tank, and the scopus came in another deal- kind of saved the scopus. Any the blue actually. but so far no aggression. There my two favorite fish- hopefully I can upgrade tank size before they out grow this one.

the thing on left is a mini carpet anemone I believe.
