he has been like this for a few months, ever since i brought him home. my water quality is right where it should be and my lighting is 4 t5s on a 40 breeder.

Yeah definitely bleached. Also when last did it feed?

yes, he has been roaming around more than usual this last week. he seems to hang out more in the shaded areas.

What type of foods have you been trying how long have you had it

i have had it for a few months, i think 2 1/2.

i try to feed him cutup shrimp.

Do you have any pellets or flakes for the fish (if any)? might try 1 or 2 to start. I had a nem that wouldn't take mysis after I received it, but had a good rate for a week with pellets. After that week, his/hers feedings where spot on with mysis, then to anything. Kinda like starting it into the normal procedure. Just keep an eye on it for any changes. The mouth is still closed so that is a good sign.

Definitely a product of lack of light. try to keep him as high into the light as possible, what kind of T5 fixture do you run?

Also What kind of bulbs?

Most likely in that condition its too little light. Ive had Roses in tanks with out of whack parameters and they dont get that bad... Also looks partially damaged. did it walk into a powerhead or filter?

I agree it looks like part of it the top right side of the bta has some sort of damage to it. Should bounce back with tlc as bta's are usually pretty hardy.
