I recently got some corals listed below which I’m holding in a 12g temporarily with 24w power compacts. (They will eventually be going into a 92g with black box LEDs) The 12g tank was getting direct sunlight at first so I’m not sure if that did any damage so I blocked out the sun. I had xenia, which pretty much shriveled and melted within a couple of days so I removed it. My Kenya tree is doing great, zoas are doing great and toadstool is doing great. The GSP had a few polyps out the first couple of days but nothing has been out for the past 5-6 days or so. I have a couple pieces so I have one piece in moderate/higher flow, one in medium flow and one in lower flow and none are out. I’ve noticed what appears to be brown algae on the purple mat. And I blew them off a couple days ago but a lot of the brown remained. After blowing them off the Kenya tree was pretty dropped over so not sure if it released something but the Kenya is doing great now. I just can’t figure out what’s going on with the GSP?

I have noticed little tentacle things around some of the GSP I think they are spionid worms which I tried to pick some of them out initially but didn’t want to irritate the gsp any further. It’s been sitting the past few days but nothing happening. Any ideas?? I tested the water and everything is good and I assume if there’s something wrong the other corals wouldn’t be doing too well. Nitrates are around 10ppm so they aren’t lacking nutrients. I also did a water change...

Thanks a lot for the help I have no idea what’s going on!

Was the 12g cycled? Really need all water pramameters.

Yes tank was all cycled. I just took water and rock from my 92g with no fish or inverts so I am not adding any nutrients into the tank. Here are the parameters prior to doing a 2.5g water change (which I did just for peace of mind)
Salinity: 1.026
Ph: 8.3
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 10 ppm
Phosphate: 0.2 ppm
Alkalinity: 9 dkh
For some reason I don’t think it is a water parameter issue. I am also running carbon in case of any toxins released by the coral. But I know gsp is probably the hardest coral out of all of these to kill... so I’m clueless. Any other ideas?

Okay, numbers look good.

Temperature?

I would gently blow or brush off the algae from it.

It's color is good and purple. Some times they just take a couple weeks to open back up after being moved. Give it some time.

Ok thanks. Temp is 79. It seems like when I blew them off the last time it irritated my Kenya so I want sure if it was releasing something into the water. I will try to move everything else into my 92g and brush off the gsp and just wait and see. Thanks again for your help!
