I bought this from a local shop and have no clue what it is or what its going to grow into. Anyone know?

Def. not an efflo... Just because it's round in shape doesn't make it an efflo . Way too small and void of any true branching growth yet to get a positive ID. I agree that it looks like it could develop into an A. tortusa, time will tell.

I agree, it is too little to be able to say for certain. It looks like an efflo at this stage, but it could turn out to be a tort. Either way, $50 is a good price for it.

Agreed, I've been watching it for a while. I bought it when it was completely flat. Its probably been a month and a half.

Ok so for everybody saying it's an efflo care to state why? Besides the fact that it is round in shape obv...

I didn't know efllo had prominent terminal branching from the inner fused portion? You can clearly see axial coralites from the branching growth popping out from the middle of the coral, something an efflo will never exhibit.

I've never been much good at SPS IDs, but could this be a clathrata or soliteryensis? Hard to say at this size, I agree.

I am going in a complete different direction an saying Acropora cytherea that has encrusted on a round frag disk. The OP will have to bring back some updated pics in a month to get a better idea, but for now it appears to have the traits on many different Acropra species.

Appears to be a tort that is still stretching its base out, when it starts to grow it will be a little easier to identify; keep us posted on it.

Edit: While searching, I found this site, which I thought was kinda of cool.
