anyone know where to get an acrylic cone

does anyone know of a good acrylic fabricator that can make acrylic cones. online or in the miami area

or can you find a rod the diameter you are wanting and have it milled by a cnc machine?

I am thinking this is for a DIY skimmer, so finding an 8" or so rod would be quite pricey.

If you're handing with acrylic you can take some heat to it and round it out yourself into a cylinder. Although if you absolutely need a cone I think it'd be quite hard. Sorry if I'm not much help.

Heres a pic of the cone hubby just made from a flat piece of acrylic.
Its not perfect but still in the works

I was checking as well for acrylic cones, only one I found was $200 Pffffff

very nice did you use something to wrap it around. its for a skimmer. i sent them an email today so hopefully they will reply back pretty soon and hopefully they are not to expensive.

as an update, the price for a cone 9" diam to 3" diam x 17" high x 1/4" thick clear cast acrylic cone with cemented, polished seam is $229 its a bit pricey so im gonna try to cut a flat sheet and heat it around a mold made of plaster

If that doesn't work out as a mold, see if you can find someone that is a wood turner and ask them to make you a wooden mold. If they are a decent turner, they can make it for you fairly easily.

If you can, take them the piece of tubing that you are going to be using, top and bottom, so they have something to measure from. Tell them what you are doing and how it will fit together. I'm going to be making a wooden mold for a friend. If it turns out ok, I'll try to post a pic.
