Hi folks,
I've been trying for months to get nanoreefadvisor to correct some misinformation on their web site, without response. Anyone know who runs it and how to contact them?
A number of Reef2Reef readers are getting false information from it since it is the first thing that google hits on for lowering alkalinity in a reef tank.
This is what I've written to them in the past, but the only address they give is for questions about their privacy notice:

Unfortunately, it is the first thing google sees when bringing up how to lower alkalinity in a reef aquarium, and it is wrong.
Specifically, organic acids such as vinegar are NOT a way to reduce alkalinity. Any impact on alkalinity only lasts until the acetate is metabolized by bacteria to convert it into CO2 and bicarbonate.

I can go into more chemical detail on why this does not work if you think you are correct, but the simple fact that lots of folks dose vinegar to reef tanks (myself included) without lowering the alkalinity is evidence even if you do not want to read chemical equations.
