Anyone ever make a refugium with a Seachem Tidal?

Are talking about installing partitions to make your own sump?

I think most use the aquaclear because it's bigger.

It’s not really. The aquaclear 70 is not much bigger than the tidal 55. If you take the basket out of the tidal it’s significantly bigger. I have both the aquaclear and the tidal and keep jumping back and forth which one I like better :)

On the tidal all I’d have to do is literally I stick a light on the top and drop in Chaeto or something. Maybe put a grill on the top so it doesn’t flow into the tank

Seachem Tidals are fairly new to the market, relatively speaking, so I doubt you’ll get much feedback in terms of mods for refugium use. Aquaclears shave been around for a long time so people have modded it to do many things... refugiums included.

When you get around to converting yours to a refugium, make sure you update this thread with your experience. The database of knowledge and experience with the Seachem Tidal HOB filter has to begin somewhere!

I have a couple of these filters too. Fuge would be interesting. Following along.

Give me a week. I’ll figure something out. I’m sure it can’t be that hard. Everything flows up so I’m gonna put plastic mesh as a “roof” right before it flows up to what I call the exit ramp. Tie some algae to those marine pure balls and bam call it a day.

Now how much effect is it will have is a different story. And how much more worth it than a “real” hob refugium is also a different story.

Lol I’m buying a sump tomorrow.
