I'm looking at getting a MM 2400 for my 180g aquarium and plumbing it bean animal style. Anyone not happy or have had issues?

Thanks,

Can you give us the brand of the MM 2400. I think this would help with your answer. :)

I had a hard time getting my MM2400 to seal properly. It could be several reasons, but, I never found out why. I ended up using silicone to seal the gaskets. Curious, why are you going to a overflow box that has that amount of turnover? My MM2400 is on a 225 gal tank, and is still big.

On a 180 that would be a 13x turnover in your sump.

I wanted to have a ton of overhead just incase and I would think it would also keep it quieter. Do you have 2 seals per bulkhead or just the 1?

Thanks,

Thanks,
The MM comes with 2 rubber gaskets per bulkhead, one goes inside the tank and the other between the tank and overflow, nothing goes inside the overflow.

Actually, having a bigger than need overflow will create noise. I would recommend pipping your drains with 1" pvc. I ran 1.5" and had a hard time dialing it in. The bulkheads on the MM2400 are 1.5".

kind of off topic but what size mm over flow for 6 foot 125 gallon freshwater tank. Noise is of most concern

I ended up getting the 24" overflow and plan on using 1.5" so ~36mm pipe. I have heard both bigger and smaller is less noise so I figured I would go Larger to utilize the max flow available.
