For anyone on a water meter I'm wondering how much you have noticed your water bill go up?
I am ready to fill a 300l system but am worried about the cost of filtering 300l or RO/DI water now I have seen just how much water is wasted
Is there any way to reduce how much waste water comes out of the RO/DI unit?

I have ran many tanks at once, largest being 60 gallons. I’ve noticed my bill raise up about $25.00.

It really depends on location. I know people with half of what I had who pay more.

As for waste water, some people water plants with it.

I have 2 systems currently, a 40g and a ~200g. I do water changes about 2x a month. My water bill only increased a few $. It did jump about $30/month when I had my discus tank and I was doing 40g daily water changes using RO water. The cost may be higher depending on where you live, but should not be a HUGE increase.

The last time I did the math on how much extra water I was using to maintain my tank (so not counting initial fill) and it worked out to the equivilent of having another adult at the house taking regular showers, which is not a huge hit.

Only way to know is to check your bill and see how you are charged. I'm charged in 1000 gallon increments at something like $5 so I don't really notice too much.

I really didn’t notice a bump on my water bill. I go through about 100 gallons of clean water a month.

Electrical is another story. Lol.

The water bill is in my wife's name!

It's not bad, but she doesn't dare complain or she knows I'll pull the window AC out of our bedroom that she insists on running at 60degrees in October... sometimes when the furnace is on :)

Depending on your supply water you might be able to run 2-1 if you have soft water like me.
You can check with Spectrapure on this kit. They have a unit capable of a 1-1 ratio too ( $$ ).

I get notices in the mail every few months from the water company on tips how to conserve water. Not sure if it's a hint or what.
Now the power company sent me and notice with the bill stating I was the highest power user in my neighborhood.
Gave several tips on conservation and gave me a link to a place that does free power audits.
