So I am buying a tank that comes with a snowflake eel. My plan was to put him in my 70 gallon that I want to have two maroons and a lionfish in.

Anyone have any suggestions? The eel does come with the tank and Ive always wanted one but need to make sure I can care for him properly.

Im willing to not put a lion in there. But I do have the maroon pair, all my other fish are going to the bigger tank.

I had a snowflake eel with my clowns, never had any issues. Maroon clowns will more than likely be more aggressive the eel.

I see no issue. If it was a larger eel the lion fish would be in trouble but not with a snowflake. Also I have a maroon with a snowflake no problems.

Probably not an issue with the clowns, however you need to have a tight lid on the tank or the eel will escape. Not a question of if it will happen, but when.

We have a snowflake eel and he is housed with an assortment of different fish and everything is ok! He is currently housed with trigger fish, clownfish a small damsel, goat fish, lion fish, and a few more. He’s in a 150. Plenty of space.

That will be a fine fit, if you are interested here's a couple of threads I wrote on eels.

Ah okay, do you think my stocking idea is too much for a 70 gal??

Oh wow, is there any less expensive options for them?
If you want them to live then you'll need to feed them well. I'd add a fatty fish like salmon or trout to that as a minimum.

Lionfish will eat a similar diet and may even need live food initially, if you want to find out about lionfish care you can click my name and "find all threads".

those articles were very helpful thank you! So for feeding, l see some people add some other raw fish foods. Ive seen BRS sells whole silversides. Is this a good option too?

Here's my most comprehensive thread on dead foods, and a guide to get you started if you are interested in getting a lionfish.

Also just want to run the stocking plan by you!

Snowflake eel
Dwarf lion
2 maroon clowns
Bristletooth tang

tank is a 70 gallon.

Those would all work together well and is a very interesting combination.
Cool! As far as CUC what do you suggest? I will be moving my shrimps over to my new 125 as well as my serpent star and emerald crab. I have various halloween, red leg and blue leg hermits, two large turbo snails, various small snails and a long spine urchin. Guy im getting the snowflake from says he never touches hermits or snails if well fed. Thoughts?

I think that’s a great plan, they should all get along the clowns usually just pick a spot and eels normally stay hidden until feeding time and the lion fish would just probably find his comfort spot too and usually they all pick night time spots as well. I don’t think you should have any issues.

Sounds like shrimp and the emerald crabs would be the only ones at risk. If the snowflake is already tame and doesn't bother the hermits or snails that;s probably good to go, they would rather take food from you than hunt and wrestle down a meal. Urchins are going to fine, I;m not sure but I don't think the serpent start would be in danger either. The only thing the lion would be interested in would be a shrimp.
