Just set up my SM167 Monzter skimmer trhis morning. So far so good. If you got one let me know what you think of its performance. Kinda new at skimmer and such thanks!

Dont have that model, have the dc300 I think, but anyway, I'm not fond of this skimmer. The pump burn't out on it right after the warrenty had just expired. And I have never gotten it to skim well. I have played and played with it, but it is just not a good skimmer. Plus, the water level has to be at 11 inches deep before it skims!! Have to mess with it evertime I do a water change practically!! I will not be buying another one.

I have a sv203 (with the open volute)with the dc3000 pump that didn't work well. The pump was on its last leg and seriously affected skimming. Asked BRS what is a suitable replacement pump and BRS said there wasn't one. Well there is actually. The jebao dcp 3500 is a direct replacement pump for my skimmer. I pulled the old needlewheel off the shaft and got an aftermarket needle wheel off Ebay. And now it skims like no other! And it's super quite.

I need a new pump for my SV203. I emailed the company and they told me the only way to get a new pump is to get a new base too. They wanted $300. I was wondering how the jebao pump is holding up for you?

$300 for a new base... they told me I would be a whole new skimmer lol. But the jebao is working just fine. The only issue I have with the pump, and it's not the pumps fault, but design fault was it sucked up a hermit crab that got wedged between the needle wheel and the volute which created this God awful screeching noise for 9 straight hours. It didn't block full water flow so the pump never shut itself off on low flow and my wife said it started right after I went to work at 7am and she just let it run like that till I got home at 4pm and shut it down myself. That shell damaged quite a few needles and the shaft seems out of balance. So I just need a new pump and I already got a new needle wheel.

But up until then it ran like a champ! Actually the jebao 3500 was a little too much for the body. I never could run it over 85% without it over powering the skimmer so I just ran it at 70% and all was good.

BTW the new dcq3500 that's red doesn't sit completely flush in the volute housing but the dcp sits perfectly. But the dcq works just fine just maybe 1/4 turn short of sitting flush

Thanks for the reply! Is this the impeller you bought?

Here’s a screenshot of the email they sent me back. Disappointed they discontinued the skimmer so fast but sounds like they just upgraded the pump and made a base for the new pump. They did offer a discount and wrote me back the very next morning so not bad customer service. If it weren’t for the $90 freight from China I would have just ordered it.

Yep that's the impeller. Tell him you need 3mm off the pins though. The stock impeller pins are 3mm to long. That's what he does for my impellers, I've bought several from him.

I love the skimmer, it skims really well... my only complaint is that it sucks up trash, snails, hermits into the volute and causes havoc.

I just contact rexroi from their website directly

Thats interesting about doing a base upgrade.

@BRS will you be able to get a few of the new base's in with the new 3 tab volute that'll except the new style DC pumps. I'd buy it in a heartbeat

I have an SWC 180 cone skimmer. This skimmer rocked back in the day but the psk2500 modified to be a skimmer pump was very frustrating with startup. I guess they have a psk600 and psk1000 that is specifically made for skimmers that are supposed to work with it.

I also have a million of these tiny little snails that get stuck in pumps all the time . I made this mesh cage around my SWC. I might make something for the Skimz too. I’m thinking about buying pumps for both and see which one performs better.
