Anyone seen one of these lately?

I bought this piece at the Trop, (Tropicorium) way before I knew what I was doing, and I killed it, (No surprise) but anyway, here is the only picture I have of what has proved to be very elusive colors.... Maybe it was almost dead when I bought it, but the colors were REALLY this bright, it was CRAZY!!!

This picture was taken 12/12/04 and I have not seen anything like it since.

there is a guy in knoxville, (cee) that has a acropora willesae not sure on spelling that has really nice colors like that he is on here too maybe he can show you a pic of it. i might can find a link

i know its not the same coral but i just remembered seeing one with close color so here it is dont know if it will do but its the closest thing i could find on short notice

I think I have that acro, but mine is brown.

Yeah that acro will turn a different color. I get stuff like that mixed in my acro shipments and they never survive or stay that color. They are usually from the wild. They won't even stay that color after 6 months in my ZEO tank.

I think I actually still have a piece of this thing I managed to save somewhere. I will try to remember to look tomorrow. it looks nothing like that of course

looks like a fiji wild acro, they come in those bright colors, but either die pretty quick or fade a lot. When I was in fiji diving i never saw any that bright of colors, not sure where they collect super bright ones like that.

Those are bleached acros. I would recomend not to buy any acros that look like that.

From pics from peoples diving trips, it seems many have very drab and brown/faded colors in the wild, so I think its possible

looks like A gemmifera Or A abrotanoides, both are a little on the difficult side, they usually brown out when first introduced & if they make it will start to color back up again,

I have an ice white acro that I bought from the fish guys about 6-8 months ago. It origionally had blue dusted tips..like the pictures on this thread. It is now just pure white, not bleached!!. Polyps are extended and it is encrusting, but it has not started to really grow yet. I'm hoping it gets its blue tips back.

I'll try to post pics when the light come on.

Wow Chris, that is a very cool piece. I have a white acro in the tank now, it is not bleached either, but it has brown corallites with green polyps. It is pretty cool too, just not like the super BRIGHT purple that this one had.

That one looks like it's coloring up some in my tank. I'll have to let you know how it progresses. Very cool coral.
