I recently picked these up..... what do ya think? are they just morphing?

I have one like that....it stays that way regardless...The orange/green fades throughout themselves but that's about all the morphing I have been able to get.

wow....that made almost no sense.

Colors don't bleed like it was a shirt....I have cut several zoas by accident and never did I see any color other then brown, in water and out.

I'll go take a picture of mine to show.

Here are some random shots of mine...you will notice that there is also a green polyp growing with the colony that is showing almost the same thing...some with yellow/orange centers and some have green centers.

This thread makes me realize I really do need to replace my broken camera with a Nikon D40 or a D60 lol.

I'm using a point & shoot.

see my wife let my sister use mine 3 different times. Each time my sister dropped it and each time its become worse and worse so now I have an EXTREMELY difficult time taking a non blurry picture.

Most likely scenario is that the zoa ate a part of it's tentacle which causes the color to bleed into the mouth. It will last for a short while but soon the mouth will return to normal.

I think you're taking his words too literally. What Luciano probably meant is that there was a "merge" or "transfer" of zooxanthellae, causing the "bleeding" look. And yes, obviously you're not going to see colors when you cut zoas...

Couldn't have said it better myself, and I tried. :D

excuse my ignorance, but not sure what you mean by "far away pictures".

1 mile away. My father has the d50 and he can take pictures of things a mile away and they look like we were standing right there. Either way I cant take good pictures with my camera being broken. I mean I have to take 6 pictures of 1 item to get a decent one because half the time the flash doesnt work or it works when its not supposed to (even if I turn it off).

To get back on topic is there a problem with having zoas with diff colors? I just thought it was a cool "feature".
