If you have large piece of this acro would you mind posting a pic?

I've got this acro from Adam @ BC and from Dan Rigle and they are not the same piece IMO- slightly different color and growth pattern

Thanks in advance!

That name gets thrown around quite a bit.....almost a much as garf bonsai. I wouldn't have a clue what any yellow tort differences there are. I just call the one I have a yellow/green tort.

It's green low and more yellow up high..............not saying there isn't actually a pure yellow tort...........just my take. I can post pictures of mine, not sure if it will help you?

I dont know that the piece is being called yellow tort for being yellow  it's a shade of yellow, and more yellow than green but you know how colors can morph under different lighting and tank conditions-

If your piece was aquired as the Shawn Benett Id be interested in seeing a picture-I'll post pics of the two I have as well.

Thanks for posting

Hey brad,

i think my original piece came from Ryan Paskin years ago on RC. Rokstst or something lclose to that. I think he may have gotten his from mark poletti or someone in the area at the time. I had mark inadvertently confirm my linage a while back in a FB conversation lol but I don't remember the exact details. the pic on my site what taken used iwasakis and clearly is as yellow as it can get but for sure they want to be green badly as soon as they get under bluer light.

would love to see pics of both of yours if its convenient at all of you.

Thanks for the post Adam. I was going to shoot you a message yesterday but got busy

+1 on some pics

I'll bust out the DSLR here shortly but I a may have some pics from last month, I'll scan my photobucket accounts

All acros grown under LED

Shawn Benett from BC-

ORA Frogskin (for the heck of it)

Dan Rigle's Shawn Benett

The whole reason I asked is I was looking through this;
SPS Identification Database

and found this thread on the Benett-
https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/sps-identification-database/104763-shawn-benett-yellow-tort.html

I don't get polyp extension on the BC piece but the Rigle piece I do, and both look similar in color to the one in the above link. The problem is that picture is such a small piece I cant see growth pattern.

The pick I have of the Rigle is with my 60macro lens I need to take a better picture with the 18-55 lens so you can see its a totally different growth pattern-The BC grows like my frogskin and is similar except color

I got my frag from Adam from BC, the frag has been bulking up lately and is just now starting to put a bit of growth. Its pretty much green but the ends of the just staring to grow branches are yellowish in color. Tried to get a pic, but I can't get the yellowish color to show up in the pic :(

One things for sure, none of them are yellow lol!

I wish I knew what spectrum would pull the yellow out-i know if I'm going to be dominate in one color with my LEDs it's green.

I'm switching all my Evergrow LEDs that I've used for the last 2 years ( or so) over the dispaly to the Artic S026- I ran the Artics over a couple frag tanks and really dug the color but had to switch them out to DIY since I had height limitations-I should have just added another fixture in hind sight.

My SPS are soon to be happier :)

This frag was at about 450 par under t5. The skin shows more yellow than the coralites. I'll see if I can dig up more pics at lower levels., which usually leads to more green.

lol definetly wasn't knocking your skills. You got some of the best color I have ever seen. I had to literally cook mine under iwasakis to get the yellow it was getting over 1000 par with lots of red and green

Maybe I'll take a frag over to MattV, he's pushing around a 1000 with his DIY LEDs.

I wasn't knocking the piece becuase I can't pull the yellow I was just curious what others might look like-I trust if you put a lineage name on a piece, that piece is exactly what you say.

FWIW- By accident I tracked down the DFS PP, Im getting some OG Purple Monster and noticed a pink frag in the pic so I asked "what's the pink frag" the rest is history :)

Thanks for the pic Big E, sounds like lower light pulls the green-I can't really get much more par to my piece, it's in the frag since my display has no more real estate for acros- That's why I have 3 frag tanks for acros, I keep finding pieces I have to have-My frag tanks have better pieces than my display #sad

I'm remodeling the other half of my garage next month, I've been trying to think of a way to sell the wife on two more 4' frag tanks LOL ( Im think quarantine tanks are something that may fly)
