Thinking about getting Shark ATM colony but wanted to hear everyones opinions or experience with bottled bacteria.

You can use any kind of bacteria in a bottle.
Are you using it for to cycle a tank or just a weekly small dose to spike the bacteria level in your tank?

Only a week old tank so i wanted to cycle.it says it cycles the tank in 5 days. Sounds too good to be true so i wanted to ask around

Yes bottled bacteria works great for cycling. I've use Bio-spira on my past 2 tanks and quarantines. It's easy to get access to as well via amazon or local petco.

It's possible to do so but you need food for the bacteria as well in form of ammonia.
Dr Tim's one and only (http://www.drtimsaquatics.com/treat-aquarium-nitrite-ammonia-levels) is know for the 5 day as I tried that one several times.
Aqua Forest bacteria works as a gem too but you need to add the ammonia your self.
How is this tank set up? Liverock or dry rock?

Dry rock. Its been set up for a week. Ive made the mistake of adding a fish in the day after it was set up (sorry im still new to this) and it was reading 1.0 ammonia. Down to .5 now after adding seachem prime. I seen the videos of Shark adding fish in the day the tank was set up and using this colony and it working fine so i thought this would correct my mistake.

Does it cycle the tank in a week? Rather then months?

Yes it has. Ammonia drops down to zero in a weeks time frame. I usually wait 2 weeks just in case myself.

Only when you remove the fish.
Remember: going slow in this hobby is the key to success.
Even when you do the Dr Tims or any other miracle magic bottle you still can't add ton's of fish in a week.
Tank might be cycled in a week but that only for the bioload that your tank has at that moment.
Adding 1 or 2 fish to the tank at the time with a few weeks between is a must.
Besides just assume that every fish you buy you run the risk that it can carry a decease for that you need to quarantine each fish.
I know this hobby can be a challenge but there are many ppl who learned the hard way and lost all fish in less than a week.
Don't want you to freak you out but just something to think about.

Good point. I run fish-less just rock and sand when bacteria is added. Rocks are mostly dry rock with some LR.

Trust me ive had my fair share of problems with ich, velvet, and brook. I have a 20g quarantine now

I used bio spira in my 40g with dry rock and about 35lbs of live sand then ghost fed the tank with like 20-30 little food pellets, next day i ghost fed again maybe 10-15 pellets, then did water tests on the 3rd day i believe. ammonia .5-1, nitrite 10, nitrate 15. a few days later ammonia was gone nitrite and nitrate was the same, after about 1.5 weeks the ammonia was still gone and nitrites dropping slowly, after about 2 weeks my ammonia and nitrites were gone and nitrates stayed between 10-20 the whole time...so it took my tank about 2.5 weeks to fully cycle. I did add another little bottle of bio spira as insurance right before i put 2 clown fish in

If that fish is still alive DO NOT add ammonia to the tank please!
If you have a Petco in your area, you can pick it up immediately and add it to the tank to help. If the fish has passed, then order whatever bacteria in a bottle product you prefer along with Dr Tims Ammonia Cloride to cycle the tank properly.

This stuff sounds great. I added some atm colony in with a few pellets. Hope it goes as well as yours
