Anyone try making a mushroom back wall?

Anyone try making a mushroom back wall instead of using GSP? There's an example of this here:
Seems like such an awesome idea, would love to see more examples of this if anyone has tried it.

GSP, Mushrooms, and stuff that grows out of control I have found is not awesome because after it covers the glass it grows over everything else, or at least tries to.

If you can keep them on an "island" they can be easier to deal with but you will have to remove them because once they get a taste of domination they go insane and try to rule the world.

Note: Almost any of our corals could do this if we keep them alive long enough. The faster growing things just require more pruning. I'm delaying working on my tank, too lazy to prune, mix water ect. That may be reflected in my reply?
