So my original plan was to make a wood stand for my new frag tank but the space needed for 3/4in wood stand would be a tight fit. I found this stand and was wanting some advice on if you would use it or not. So my new tank will be a 24x15x8in tank with a 20 gallon tall ATO resouir underneath. Do you think this wouldbe strong enough to with stand the weight.? The new frag tank is acrylic and the ATO is glass. Would you use this stand?WHy oir why not?

So you have a 12 gallon tank and a 20 gallon reservoir... and the sales info on the tank says "20 gallons" and "both top and bottom shelves can hold one".

...which is a bit vague but with your combined 32 gallons, seems within what that stand is supposed to support.

That being said, I would not use that stand unless there was some accompanying information which gave better numbers on what the tank can support (also, I prefer DIY wood stands because I can customize it in any way I want and having built many, I've never had a single issue with any of them).

BTW, when you say "3/4in wood" you are talking about plywood, yes?

I'd be worried about what it's made out of and rusting. I've seen stands like that at Petco and they are usually steel and the coating on them are cheaply done and won't prevent rusting.

A plywood stand would not take up any more space than the metal stand you posted...

I have only used cheap steel types of stands on freshwater tanks. they are usually not constructed great and just barely welded together.

Im actually kinda impressed with the stand. I will be the first to say i did NOT want to use this stand but after setting it up and running a stress test on it. Ot actually seems sturdy wnough the rust will be less of a problem because freshwater will be underneath with a top limiting evaporation. And the new tank will be placed on plywood and foam so it wouldnt be directly sotting on the stand
