I was wondering if anyone is using a volcano skimmer to see what modifications you have done to it. I use one and it’s a beast pulling skimmate out. I’ve been running it for about 6 months now.

I recently was having a convo with Bill Wann and he said to get rid of the Venturi but I’m not exactly sure how to inject the air without it.

The volcano I have (not sure on the model) has had some modifications to it like the bubble Pate and some others. But I really don’t have a whole lot of info on it.

Looking for recommendations on the air injection and any other modifications you have done.

Thanks in advance :)

Don't poke a sleeping dragon. Let the beast be a beast.

Old School skimmer, what I remember people doing was adding a air pump to them, I would google it.

Does that pump have a needle wheel in it? You can use a mazzei injector which in my experience works a lot better on bigger skimmers.

Blast from the past.
I had one, a 12" as well... First one. Scott and I worked together for about a year trying different bottom boxes, bubble plates, main body, cup height and neck diameters, ventury and needle wheels. Eventually Scott disappeared and I ended up selling it to someone else and picked up a Deltec AP-1004.

I love it. I was about to purchase a skimmer from Bill Wann then this came available local to me for a price I couldn’t refuse. It’s had some up grades to it for the bubble plate and a couple others.
