anyone use an octopus bh100f skimmer

I set one up last Saturday on an ten week old saltwater tank. Making tons of bubbles in the skimmer , but no skimate yet. May be too early yet. I did clean it with vinager/ro water before installing it. There is a hole in the center chamber where the cup goes. 1/2 inch in diameter. What is the purpose of the hole , and how do I adjust the cup according to the hole? Are you happy with this skimmer? I have it on a 55 gal tank.

My BH-1000 has the same lil hole, have no idea what it's for either-lol. But I keep my cup low enough that it covers it anyways so it don't matter.
Do you have foam running up the neck and over into your cup?

Skimmers can take a few days/week or so to start producing. Some start right away. Dont sweat it, give it time.

Is it the hole on the left side? When your facing the tank? There's supposed to be a black screw there to hold the cup at any level you want vs using the rubber band.

No. It's a small hole located on the wall that separates the return from the intake. Really strange and no explanation given to it's purpose. If the hole isn't covered by something then the foam or micro bubbles drain right into the return.

Lower your cup so the bubbles are just past the bottom of the neck opening. Like this:

I have this skimmer on my 44g corner. It took a long time for it to break in and start producing good skimmate after being cleaned. Once it is dialed in then it pulls some nice gunk.

I pulled the foam on the return chamber in order to put a heater in there rather than in the tank. Some micro bubbles at first, but they have faded over time.

Same vinegar/RO bath that you did.

One problem with keeping the heater in there is that the skimmer has to be running to keep the tank at temperature.

I never turn my skimmer off. And I didn't clean mine hmmmm opps

I usually don't either. Just be careful around supplements that can cause excess foaming as it doesn't take long to overflow that cup.
