anyone use black reef sand ?

I don't care for the bright white uniform color and partial size for my substrate. Mine is more of a mottled mix of color and partial size. Small fine partials, crushed shell, rubble and varying colors. To me, it looks more natural. Not sure if the fish and coals care, but the seem happy.

And yes, if you can see him, I have my shark in there temporarily... ;0)
He will go in my 180 Gal when he starts eating good.
 
Make sure your sand is not to fine. I have fine sand in my 75. The clowns in there stir it up and it takes a long time to settle down. It gets over all the coral. Its a pain in the hinny.
 
What is everyone talking about magnetic sand. Mine don't stick to the magnet when I am cleaning the glass. What am I missing here.
