I have a green filmy cyano on my rocks that just doesn't know when to quit. Nitrates are zero and phosphate is zero. I only feed as much as my fish can eat and I only have 9 fish in my 120 gallon SPS system. I've tried everything and I'm most likely going to try Chemiclean but I'm insure whether to leave my biopellets running or not.

IMO, treating for cyano with an antibiotic such as in Chemiclean should be considered only as a last resort. But in desperation, it may be a suitable way to go.

I do not know if the erythromycin in it will kill off the bacteria on the pellets or not, but I don't think there is any harm leaving the pellets in place while you treat. :)

I think in the instructions it says to shut down skimmer gfo carbon pellets etc during the treatment as most of those chemi's do for max efficiency - so if you were worried about having your pellets shut down you could do a wc and keep the pellets running with the water taken out for the 24 hrs during treatment. Than put back on after the large water change it calls for after treating and the skimmer is back on. In the case you treat and in the case u decide to keep them running or not. Heard mixed reviews on that stuff especially in sps systems. Makes the skimmer go crazy. GL

The blue chemi does not mention to stop gfo so I bet this is why it isn't working this time. Do you know how long should I wait to repeat the dose?
